Exchange traded fund, or ETF

Māori translation:
Tahua or tahua taurima
Definition

An exchange traded fund (ETF) is a basket of investments that can include companies, gold, bonds and property. Many KiwiSaver funds invest in ETFs because they help diversify an investment portfolio. Some ETFs follow an index, such as the S&P 500, which includes the 500 largest companies listed on the US share markets including many of the world’s most recognisable brands.
